Goals For January 2019 *Update*

Hi Guys!

Today i’m sharing with you all,  how i did with my goals for last month…

january2019goalsupdate

  1. Read 4 books – My major book reading goal this year is to read 50 books, so for January i want to read at least 4.   I completed this goal pretty quickly. I actually read 5 books in January, and even started reading a 6th book!
  2. Lose 10 pounds – Almost 2 years ago now, i lost a lot of weight, but unfortunately i gained all of it back and then some. So for January i hope to lose at least 10 pounds! I’m happy to report that i reached this goal and then some! I’m down 13 pounds since January 1st!!
  3. Buy only 1 coffee from a coffee shop – I’ve gotten so used to every time i leave the house i buy myself a cup of coffee, i want to put a stop to that. So this month i have challenged myself to only buy myself 1 cup a coffee from a coffee shop this month. I tried so hard guys, but i failed this one. I ended up getting 2 coffees out this month, not super bad, but a failed goal nonetheless.
  4. Go on at least 3 field trips – We have been slacking in the field trip department, so i really want to start making them a priority. With the help of my amazing hubby i was able to reach this goal. Yay! We went to the aquarium, an air museum, and drove to a bordering state where we had a little mini adventure.
  5. Get at least 10,000 steps each day – This shouldn’t be too hard of a goal, as i usually get 10,000 – 12,000 steps every day, but i want to start being more intentional with my steps because next month my goal will be even higher. This was an easy goal for me and i’m happy to report i crushed it, with most days getting 15,000+ steps!!
  6. Drink at least 4 bottles of water each day – When the weather gets colder i find it harder to drink water, so i’m really pushing myself to drink lots of water each dayThere were only 2 days this month when i didn’t drink 4 bottles of water. So it’s a fail, but i’m still super proud of myself for all the water i did consume.
  7. Workout 5 times a week – This can be hard for me, because if i’m getting 10,000+ steps every day i can convince myself that i have moved enough so working out isn’t necessary, when it really is. I did it, i worked out 5 times a week!! I was nervous about this one, and sure there were days i didn’t feel like working out, but i pushed through and i’m so happy i did!
  8. Put my phone down more and be present with my family – I wouldn’t say i am obsessed with my phone, but i can get lost in mindless scrolling versus being present with my family. This goal isn’t specifically for January, but for the whole year. I did pretty good with this one. I tried to only pick up my phone when the kids weren’t around (mornings/evenings). However i did mess up a few times, but this goal is for the whole year so i think i’m off to a good start.

So as you can see, i crushed some of the goals and failed a couple of them. Overall, i think January was a pretty good month goal wise. Did you set any goals for yourself for January? I’d love to hear how you did.

Goals For February 2019

Hi Guys!

At the beginning of last month i shared with you my goals for January. Tomorrow i’ll share how i did with my goals for January, but today i’m going to share with you my goals for February.

So without further ado, here are my goals for February 2019…

feb2019goals

  1. Read 4 books – This is the same goal i had last month, however this goal will increase next month.
  2. Lose 5 pounds – Since February is a shorter month and it has a few different holidays, plus one of my kids birthday, i thought i would make my goal smaller.
  3. Buy only 1 coffee from a coffee shop – I feel like if i don’t have this goal i will buy coffee every time i leave the house, so this goal is sticking around.
  4. Get at least 15,000 steps each day – This shouldn’t be too hard of a goal for me to accomplish, but it is a step up from last month.
  5. Go on 2 field trips – Last month my goal was 3 field trips and i believe that if i didn’t set that as a goal we probably wouldn’t have gone on any, so i’m keeping them in for now until it becomes a habit.
  6. Workout 5 times a week – Another goal that is the same as last month. I feel like it works well for me though.
  7. Blog 3 times a week – I don’t know if you noticed, but my January posts were not consistent at all. I really want to get more consistent with blogging, so hopefully having this goal will push me to get better at it.
  8. Do some form of scripture writing every day – I really want to get more into the habit of studying the bible, memorizing scripture, etc., so i’m hoping this helps me with that.

Those are my goals for this month. I’d love to hear what goals you are working on this month.

Current Health Journey

Hi Guys!

At the beginning of the month, I shared my goal of losing 10 pounds this month with you all. Well, today I thought I would share how i’m going about doing that, in case you are also interested in losing weight/getting healthy/etc…

current health journey

First i’ll start with my workout schedule.

I’m currently working out 5 times a week, with my two off days being Wednesday and Sunday. For my work outs this month, I am running on the treadmill for 1 mile. My goal is to slowly work my way up to 2 miles, however that probably won’t happen until next month. I’m just not there yet.

I’m also getting over 10,000 steps every day, workout day or not.

Now for my diet.

I’m trying to stay away from: Chocolate, Candy, Soda, Bread, Rice, Pasta, and Ice Cream.

For the first part of the month I’ve been just doing my own thing, no real diet plan other than avoid those foods i just previously mentioned.

Starting today i’m going to be doing the Beachbody meal plan for a 1,200 calorie diet.

I used that meal plan last time I was focused on losing weight and I believe it really did the trick. I just adjust the meal plan to my liking for example; I don’t do the Beachbody shake they recommend, and I also don’t use the portion fix containers.

Here is the meal plan:

Breakfast (M/W/F): Veggie Egg Muffins on Whole Grain English Muffin with Orange Slices

Breakfast (T/Th): Sweet Potato Veggie Hash with Turkey Sausage with Red Grapes

Shakeology Snack (DAILY): Vanilla Chia Shakeology Smoothie **I don’t do this**

PM Snack (DAILY): Apple with Peanut Butter

Lunch (M/W/F): Cilantro Lime Shredded Chicken with Black Eyed Pea Salad

Lunch (T/Th): Avocado Chicken Salad on Toasted Whole Grain Bread

Dinner (M/W/F): Roasted Pepper Tuna Melt

Dinner (T/Th): Roasted Chicken over Wilted Spinach Salad

country-heat-meal-prep-1200-1500-calories-full-prep

The meal plan covers Monday-Friday, so on the weekends I just do meals that are similar to these meals. If you are interested in this meal plan, the recipes/shopping list are on their website.

That’s how i’m going about getting healthier/losing weight/getting fit/etc. Now for my results so far, I’ve lost 7 pounds!!! With my total goal being 10 pounds this month, i feel like 7 pounds so far is a great start!!

Are you on your own health journey? I’d love to hear what you are doing, and how it is going.

Goals For January 2019

Hi Guys!

Instead of doing a blog post about all my goals for the year, i thought i would share each month my goals for that month, because they can change.

There are some big goals like “get down to my goal weight this year”, which doesn’t change monthly, but most of my goals this year will change each month.

So without further ado, here are my goals for January 2019…

Happy Holidays

Hi Guys!

I kinda fell off the Blogmas wagon, but for my first time ever doing Blogmas i made it 17 days, so i’m pretty proud of myself for that. Especially since i didn’t plan to do Blogmas at all, i only decided to do it on the actual first day of Blogmas!

Hopefully i will do it again next year, and be able to make it all the way through.

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas. We were really hoping to have a white Christmas, but that didn’t happen. However, a few days after Christmas we got a good dusting of snow, so the kids were happy with that.

Right now we are really looking forward to the new year, i’m already starting to work on a list of goals for 2019. I’d love to hear what some of your goals are for the new year.

That’s all i really wanted to say, i hope you all are doing well.

Oh and If you are a blogger yourself, be sure to stop by again tomorrow, as i will have my 2019 blog planner up on my blog for free!

Until then, take care!

Book Goals for 2018 *Update*

Hi Guys!!

I did it! Last week i completed my reading goal for 2018.

book goals 2018

Yes my goal was small, only 20 books for the whole year, but as a busy mom of 5 i wanted to make sure i didn’t set the goal too high for myself.

Here’s a recap of all the books i have read so far this year…

book goals 2018 2

I really enjoyed all of these books, there isn’t a bad one in the bunch.

If i had to pick my favorite book out of all of them, it would definitely be Kisses From Katie. This book is  just so good and it really makes you want to evaluate your own life and become a better person.

If i had to pick my least favorite it would be The Fall of Butterflies. I honestly just picked this book based on it’s pretty cover (i know, i know… never judge a book by it’s cover). Just because it’s my least favorite doesn’t mean it’s a bad book though. I mean it has 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon how bad could it be?! Honestly, I just wasn’t expecting this book to head in the direction it headed in. If you read it for yourself you will see what i mean. But a bit of warning, there is foul language. If that bothers you (it didn’t bother me) you might want to skip this one.

I’ll list all the books below, so you can check them out for yourself….

The Best Yes

A Stranger In The House

The River

The Lying Game

Praying Circles Around Your Children

One of Us Is Lying

She is yours

Kisses From Katie

Girl Wash Your Face

Wild and Free

Backyard Farming: Raising Chickens

The Death of Mrs. Westaway

Whispering Shadows

The Perfect Couple

Idaho

Prodigal Summer

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

The Fall of Butterflies

Brain on Fire

Eat Pray Love

Just because i’ve reached my goal for 2018 doesn’t mean i’m going to stop reading, no way!! I love books way too much and i’m excited to see how many books i will end up reading this year.

What’s been your favorite book you have read so far this year? Let me know in the comments.

Peanut Butter Granola  Every time i make this i have to make 2 batches because my kids just gobble it up! The love to eat it like a cereal, with some almond milk.

Vanilla Chai Vegan Banana Pancakes Easy & yummy! The kids love it!

Black Bean Burgers – This is a great recipe if you are vegetarian or vegan! So yummy too! I’ll be honest though, this recipe wasn’t a big hit with my kids. Most of my kids prefer regular ground beef burgers. I however, love these burgers!!

Chipotle Chicken Quinoa Burrito Bowl My family isn’t big on eating quinoa, so we substitute with rice. It’s so good.

Chocolate Peanut Butter “Ice Cream” I make this almost every morning for my breakfast. I just use frozen bananas, unsweetened almond milk, and natural peanut butter. Sometimes i’ll add in a scoop of cocoa powder. It really feels like you are eating ice cream (or in my case a milkshake because of the almond milk), but without the guilt.

Turkey Taco Burrito Bowls  My kids love turkey taco’s, even more than original taco’s with ground beef.

Sticky Sesame Cauliflower I tried this out last month, i was surprised at how good it tasted.

So that’s it, those are my favorite recipes. What’s your favorite healthy recipe?

That’s also the end of my weight loss series, i really hope you enjoyed it as much as i did. I don’t know about you, but just looking at all these recipes has made me hungry.
