Valentines, Colds, and Goals… {Life Update}

Hi Guys!

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day, and if you don’t celebrate, then i hope you had a wonderful Thursday! Fun Fact: My husband proposed to me on Valentine’s Day, 16 years ago. It seems like so long ago, i was just a baby then (17 years old).

We have been battling a cold in our house for the past week, so that is why there hasn’t been much new content on the blog. The 2 year old has it really bad, and is not really napping because of the cold. Which, if you are a work from home mom, you know those nap times are when all the work magic happens, so if they stop taking the naps, your whole schedule gets messed up. But it’s fine, it’s fine. He is on the mend (he actually took a 2 hour nap today), so i’m back on track.

One of my goals for February was to put out 3 blog posts every week, but i don’t want to just put out content for the sake of putting out content, i want it to be good/useful content. So far, it looks like i’m going to make that goal, but it would be super helpful if you (Yes, YOU reading this blog post) could leave me a comment and let me know what else you would like to see/hear about… Do you want more homeschooling things? Mom life/parenting? Food? Animals? Books? Fitness?… Let me know in the comments.

I did this crazy thing recently, well crazy for me at least because i’m such a big introvert. We joined a homeschool co-op. It had really been a goal of mine to get out there, and meet new people, etc. So i heard about a new co-op in my area starting, and i went to the information meeting, and ended up signing the family up to join. This was a huge step for me. HUGE. It has turned out to be pretty great though, the kids are loving it, and all the people there are so friendly.

That’s about all the news i had to share. I hope you all had a fantastic week.

Take care,

Mardi Gras & Chinese New Year

Gung Hay Fat Choy! (Or Happy New Year!)

Today is Mardi Gras (“Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, refers to events of the Carnival celebration, beginning on or after the Christian feasts of the Epiphany and culminating on the day before Ash Wednesday” – Wikipedia) and today is also Chinese New Year (“the Chinese festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar” – Wikipedia).

chinese new year 2015

I took that picture back in 2015 when we went all out for Chinese New Year. This year our celebration will be low key.

This Chinese New Year is the year of the Pig. If you were born in: 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, and 2019 then you have the Pig for your zodiac sign. If you are a Pig, you are smart and sincere!

We don’t really celebrate Mardi Gras, occasionally i will tell the kids “hey it’s Mardi Gras today, let’s wear some beads”, but that usually happens every other year or every two years.

Tonight we might eat some Chinese food, but probably not because i forgot about Chinese New Year when i was making my February menu plan. Most Friday’s we eat Asian inspired dishes, so i could take Fridays meal and make it tonight, but we’ll see what happens.

And if i wasn’t trying to lose weight, then i might make a King Cake that Pinterest keeps showing me.

I’ve never had a King Cake, but they sure do look good!

Are you celebrating Mardi Gras or Chinese New Year? Let me know how you celebrate!

  • Tomorrow i will have our January reading list up on the blog.

  • Last year i did some favorites posts (January favorites, February favorites, etc.) and i thought that was fun, so i’m bring it back again this year! I’ll be sharing my December favorites next week.

  • Other things i will be sharing this month include; Winter themed learning, baby fever, menu planning, morning routine, and more!

That’s all i really wanted to say, i was hoping to get this post up Tuesday, but life happened instead.

Happy Holidays

Hi Guys!

I kinda fell off the Blogmas wagon, but for my first time ever doing Blogmas i made it 17 days, so i’m pretty proud of myself for that. Especially since i didn’t plan to do Blogmas at all, i only decided to do it on the actual first day of Blogmas!

Hopefully i will do it again next year, and be able to make it all the way through.

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas. We were really hoping to have a white Christmas, but that didn’t happen. However, a few days after Christmas we got a good dusting of snow, so the kids were happy with that.

Right now we are really looking forward to the new year, i’m already starting to work on a list of goals for 2019. I’d love to hear what some of your goals are for the new year.

That’s all i really wanted to say, i hope you all are doing well.

Oh and If you are a blogger yourself, be sure to stop by again tomorrow, as i will have my 2019 blog planner up on my blog for free!

Until then, take care!

Christmas Crafts {Blogmas Day 16}

Hi Guys!

I shared some fun Christmas crafts a few years ago, but they are still pretty awesome crafts that i thought they were worth sharing again today…

Beaded Snowflakes

Supplies needed:

Pipe stems

Pony Beads

Directions:

Take 3 pipe stems and arrange them so they overlap in the middle.

Twist the centers of the pipe stems together.

Start adding on beads to the ends of your snowflake. (I liked the blue and white ones, but the kiddos wanted to do colorful ones.)

Once you have added your beads you can curl the ends and ta-da you have a snowflake!!

Or, you could do like my Hubby recommended and make it into an ornament! (Thanks Hubby!)

This is how we did that…

Once we had added all our beads we folded the sides up, to make a ball. Then we took an additional pipe stem and tied all the ends together. Then we hung them on the tree.

Christmas Lights

Supplies needed:

White Cardstock Paper

Paint

Black Sharpie

Directions:

Take a black sharpie and draw a swirly line on your paper. Then add in little squares along the swirly line to be the bulb bottom.

Next have your child dip their pointer finger in some paint and push it right above the black squares. You could have your child do a pattern or just randomly do it.

And that’s all there is to it!! Pretty easy!!

Snowman Felt Ornament

Supplies needed:

Rolled Felt Snowman Ornament Kit

Hot Glue Gun

Directions:

All you have to do is follow the directions that were included in the kit. Super Easy!!

What are your favorite Christmas arts/crafts???

I got the idea for Beaded Snowflakes, HERE and the idea for the Christmas Lights, HERE.
