Tip Tuesday #4

Hi Guys!

I’m back today with another Tip Tuesday!

Tip Tuesday

Today’s tip is something so easy and simple, i’m sure lot’s of you probably already do this, but in case there is someone out there (like me) that doesn’t know about how genius this is, i will share….

Using a bottle scrubber to do dishes with, instead of a sponge!

scrubber vs sponge

Alright, a little backstory… My skin is sensitive.

So very sensitive. Doing dishes causes my hands to crack and bleed. It’s super painful.

One day i decided instead of getting my hands wet (which is what causes them to crack & bleed), i would use this bottle scrubber we had. It worked so well. The dishes got clean, and my hands were safe. *Sure i could have bought myself a pair of dish gloves, but i already had the bottle scrubber on hand and so i thought why not.*

So to recap today’s tip is.. use a bottle scrubber instead of a sponge to do your dishes. You get less contact with the water (which if your skin is sensitive this is helpful) and super clean dishes!

Goals for 2018 {How To Accomplish Them}

I really love new years. I love the idea of starting all over again with a fresh 365 days to make some awesome things happen.

2018 is no different, i was super excited for this year to come, and my list of goals this year is by far the longest list i have ever had.

goals 2018

My goals this year range from really small things (like getting better at doing my hair & my daughter’s hair), to really big things (like buying a house).

But, just having goals isn’t enough, you have to have a plan on how you are going to accomplish those goals.

So, i thought i would share some of my goals with you and how i’m hoping to accomplish them.

Here are some of my goals for 2018:

  • Get better at doing hair – How? Watching YouTube videos, going on Pinterest for ideas, and trying some new idea at least once a week.
  • Reach and maintain my goal weight – How? Working out at least 5 times a week, and changing my diet.
  • Read at least 20 books this year – How? By dedicating at least an hour a day to read.
  • Buy a house – How? By budgeting, paying bills on time, and saving money.
  • Spend less time on my phone – How? Dedicate an hour first thing in the morning to checking emails, answering messages, etc. Then don’t pick up my phone again until after the children are in bed at night.

Like i said, if you set yourself a goal, you need to figure out how you are going to make it work.

Also, another tip i have for you is to be specific with your goals. Don’t just say “i want to read more”, well what is more? one page more, one book more.. Those kind of goals are really hard to measure whether you are doing well with them or not. Instead say things like “i want to read 10 books this year”, or “100 books”. You get the idea, it needs to be a goal you can measure and see if you are achieving it.

What are some goals you have for this year?

One Change I Made To Make My Days Go Smoother

Let’s be honest, i don’t think anyone likes to be woken up by a crying baby or by a 3 year old poking your face saying “get up Mommy”, but for me it was more than just a dislike for those things. For me it would completely make my day go wrong. So i finally changed it.

one change 2018

Before we get to the how i changed it.. Let’s talk about the why/how it would make my day go wrong…

I don’t know about you, but i am not a morning person. When i get out of bed in the morning i am not fully awake until at least 20 minutes after drinking my first cup of coffee.

So, to be woken up by children needing me right away to change their diapers or fix them breakfast, when i’m not even fully awake yet puts me in the grumpiest mood and for me it’s not a mood that can be easily undone. Once i’m grumpy, i stay grumpy for awhile.

That’s how i knew something needed to change. It wasn’t fair to the children to have a grumpy mommy all the time.

Last November, i finally made the decision to wake up before the kids. I set my alarm for 5:30 am and when it went off, i forced myself to get out of bed.

I went downstairs, drank my cup of coffee, scrolled through social media/Pinterest, and when the kids woke up i was able to give them a warm happy greeting.

It was the end of Grumpy Mommy.

It’s now been 2 months since i started waking up at 5:30 am (before the children) and i must say my days have just gone so much better. I’m happier, the kids are happier, and i find myself being more productive throughout the day.

Of course everyone has their bad days, but for me they are few and far between. Unlike previously, where every day started out as a bad day.
