Today i’m back with another Fitness Friday. Sorry there was no Fitness Friday last week, we went camping.
Which is why today i’m talking about healthy snacks to take camping, that way you don’t find yourself reaching for the bad stuff and blowing all your weight loss/health goals.
Here are some of the healthy snacks i took camping…
Fruit – I packed bananas and apples, just because they are the 2 easiest fruit for transporting and they don’t need refrigeration.
Rice Cakes – I love the white cheddar flavor, and at only 45 calories per cake it’s a great snack for weight loss.
One Protein Bar – I did a review recently on these bars, if you want to know more about them, you can read that post HERE. I love the maple glazed doughnut flavor and these are great to take camping.
Trail Mix – At 140 calories for only 1/4 cup, this isn’t the greatest weight loss snack in my opinion. Plus it has a lot of sugar. But for me it’s not camping without trail mix. My whole family loves to eat trail mix when camping. Which is why i didn’t get a picture of it, my whole family ate it all up before i could. Anyways this is the one we like, the Walmart brand Indulgent flavor.

Today i’m back sharing my thoughts on two different protein bars.
Built Bar vs. One Bar
*Side note: i’ve only ever had the Maple Glazed Doughnut flavor of One Bars, so that is the one i am doing this review on. I have tried almost every flavor of Built Bars, so i am picking my favorite flavor which is Coconut.*
At 220 calories the One Bar is more of a meal replacement for me than a snack. When trying to lose weight, i keep my snack calories at no more than 150 calories. I do love the texture of it more than Built Bars. Built Bars are very chewy, so they get stuck in my teeth and the One Bar is more dry, which i like. I love the Maple Glazed Doughnut flavor, it’s very delicious. I love the protein that it provides and i love that it doesn’t have that much sugar. Overall, i highly recommend the One Bar, just beware of the calories if you are trying to lose weight.
I love that the calories on built bar are very low, i can easily eat one of these as a snack while trying to lose weight and not worry about it. I don’t like that they are very chewy, they always get stuck in my teeth. They are also more expensive than the One Bar. I could get 16 One Bars for less than a package of 12 Built Bars. I do love that Built Bar has a ton of flavors and they are always coming out with new flavors. I have tried pretty much every flavor and they all are good. Overall, i would also recommend Built Bar if you like a chewy protein bar.
Today i’m sharing some meal prep ideas to help keep you on track with healthy eating, so you can accomplish your weight loss goals.
It’s much easier for me to eat a healthy lunch, if i already have them prepped and ready to go.
Here are a few of my favorite meal prep ideas…
Lo Mein – I’ve shared this before in my “what i eat in a day post”, i love this meal. It’s so delicious, and i figured out the calories are only around 179 for one container. The whole wheat pasta makes it a very filling meal, and i love that you can customize the veggies.
Beef & Broccoli – My 16 year old even loved this meal, he said he actually prefers this recipe than the original Beef & Broccoli i make with stir fry meat. At only 252 calories per serving, it is a great meal for weight loss.
Peanut Butter Banana Wrap – This one can’t really be made days in advance, because the banana would turn brown, but it is a yummy meal quick meal. I’m not sure on the calories, but all my kids love it too.
Snack Lunch – Turkey, Cheese, Crackers, Cherry Tomatoes, Hard Boiled Egg, and grapes. This is a good one to have on the days you are just wanting a snacky type lunch.

For today’s Fitness Friday, i’m sharing what i eat in a day, weight loss edition.
I start the morning off with black coffee and water.
Breakfast: 10 AM – toasted English Muffin w/butter
Lately i’ve been loving eating these Multi Grain English Muffins, they are only 100 calories and so delicious. I toast it and then add a little bit of butter. At this time i also take my vitamins for the day.
Lunch: 12:30ish – Lo Mein Meal Prep
I love having some meals prepped and ready to go. Today i enjoyed eating one of these lo mein meal prep meals from damn delicious.
I also have an afternoon coffee with cream.*Not pictured*
Snack: 3:00ish – Key Lime Crumble Chobani Flip
This is my favorite flavor of the Chobani flips. It’s so good.
Dinner: 5:30ish – Chicken, Rice, and Salad
Marinated chicken, white rice, and a garden salad. This is a meal we make a lot, it’s a very yummy meal to end my day with.

A few years ago i shared my struggle with losing weight, and i summed it all up in this blog post HERE. Since that blog post i have; had a baby, breastfed that baby, got the virus, holidays, got pregnant again, and miscarried that baby.
Let’s just say losing weight has not been a priority for almost 2 years now. I still have some baby weight to lose from baby #6 and I’ve recently been gaining weight due to the depression of the miscarriage.
It’s time to get serious again about my health and weight loss.
So today i thought i would share how i’m planning on accomplishing my weight loss goals, just in case someone else out there needs some ideas.
Some of these things might be a repeat of things i have done in the past that have worked and some are new.
Here is what i’m doing this time around to lose weight.
Bikini Body Mommy Challenge 10 – I’m currently on day 18 of this 90 day challenge. If you have never heard of this before, it is a free exercise program that is on YouTube. The creator of it, Brianna, is a regular mom and that is one of the things i love about it. It’s not some super skinny fitness guru who makes you feel bad that you can’t keep up with them and that you don’t look like them. She offers extra stuff (like a meal plan and extra exercises) that you have to pay for, but i just use the free YouTube videos.
Fasting – I’m doing the 16:8 intermittent fast. It has worked well for me before. I am normally not hungry in the morning until 10ish and i normally don’t eat after dinner anyways, so this one is kind of easy for me.
Drinking a gallon of water every day – This one is harder for me, i do drink a lot of water every day, but it’s hard to reach that gallon goal. How i’m trying my best to reach that goal, is to add in some flavor (lemon, mint, etc.). It helps me drink more when it has flavor.
15,000+ steps every day – If you know me at all, then you know i like to get my steps. Moving and getting my steps comes pretty easy to me.
Meal prep – I just purchased this book and I also have these meal prep containers. I feel like this will help me a lot, because this is an area where i struggle. If i have to come up with a meal when i am really hungry, i will just settle for whatever is fastest and that usually is not the healthiest food.
Weigh-in weekly – Monday’s are going to be my weigh-in days. I used to weigh myself daily, but i think mentally that does more harm than good to me, so i’m switching it up this time around.
Small goals & rewards – I’ve shared before how i would pay myself to workout. That’s right. Every time i got on the treadmill i would put $5 into an envelope and once i reached my weight loss goal i took that money and bought some new clothes. This time around i am doing something different. For every 5 pounds i lose, i am going to reward myself with something. I’m not sure what the something is, probably a new book or a special coffee, something small like that.
